2020 third warmest since 1659

The year 2020 in central England was the third warmest on record behind 2014 and 2006, in fact the warmest five years in the series that reaches back to 1659 with occurred in the 21st century, and the mean temperature of 10.75°C was 1.28°C above the 1961-1990 LTA. The only colder than average month in the entire year was July. It’s not good news if you are a snow lover I’m afraid and AGW seems to be running rife in central England as much as it is elsewhere on the planet at the moment.

The annual warming trend suggested by a linear trend from 1970 is a massive 0.216°C per decade, and 2010 was the only below average year that has occurred since 1996.
