The hottest 31st of July
Central England Daily Series

Friday the 31st of July 2020 set a new date record for central England that has stood since 1943. The maximum of 33.2°C with a massive anomaly of +12.95°C, broke the long standing 30.9°C record set in 1943 by a considerable margin. The mean temperature is also highest for that date but could have been even higher if the minimum wasn’t a little on the low side. It also became the joint second warmest day since 1878 in the dail CET series, joining the hallowed ranks of 1976 and 1990, and just 0.9°C lower that last years record set on July 25th.
