January 2021 was the coldest January since 2010 in central England with a mean temperature of 3.15°C which was -0.67°C below the 1961-1990 LTA. The mean in 2010 was 1.39°C not particularly that low making it the 48th coldest January since 1698. Temperature wise January 2021 was a roller coaster of a month with three mild spells that interrupting what would have been a cold month. This may sound ridiculous but I’ve just started to realise that sometimes central England is not that representative for places north of the border! I know I’ve read about a Central Scotland Series but I don’t think that it’s actively updated.
