Warmest 25th of June since 1772

The current heatwave has produced new highest maximum, minimum and mean temperature records, this time the mean temperature of 23.0°C on the 25th of June was the highest since the daily series began in 1772, the maximum on that day of 29.7°C was also the highest since 1878 in the daily maximum minimum series, even knocking the 25th of June 1976 of the top spot, and making it the second day in a row setting new extreme records in central England. The maximum anomaly on the 25th was almost 10.5°C above the 1961-1990 LTA, and was followed the next night by the highest minimum since 1878 of 17.0°C. All temperatures are provisional at the moment and subject to confirmation at the start of next month.
