Winter 2020-21 – slightly milder than average

Anomalies for the winter [DJF] of 2020-21 came in slightly above average this year, with a mean temperature of 4.42°C, which was 0.34°C above the 1961-1990 LTA, and the coldest since 2017-18. There were a number of cold spells during the Winter, the longest a two week mild spell following Christmas, but the sharpest occurred in the second week of February. December saw a two week long mild spell in weeks two and three, but the mildest was the one that lasted right though the last two weeks of February.
